The netbook is a good computer to have when you need to move around the house, it also allow you to share the internet with security and speed.
All I use a computer for at home is to check email, do the occasional info search, or maybe shop a bit; and this little netbook fills the bill perfectly!!
I have to admit that I was a little bit leery (had never heard of the name brand) and was downright scared when I started it for the first time and it said it was “initailizing” (that’s NOT my typo). OK, so it can’t spell - but other than that, it has worked flawlessly…LOL!
With the S10-2 Lenovo played a game of give and take.
On the outside, the netbook looks and feels cheap. Everything is plastic — even the metal looking bits. This makes for a very light netbook, and one that can survive a drop without much damage [speaking from experience]. Even the decorative colors look like a half-hearted attempt at dressing this device up. Finally, the battery has a hump in it that allows device to sit at an angle. This is a great feature because it allows the netbook too cool efficiently, but at the same time makes S10-2 a bit thick. If aesthetics are important to your computing devices this might not be the netbook for you.
I think this is great netbook computer . i love it ! its easy to use & carry around . It ’s the perfect size 7 works great. If looking for a netbook i do recommend this 1.
I am more than satisfied with this product. It does everything it is supposed to do. There are a few things I dont like though… Office is a 60 day trial as is McAfee…and i am not getting 6 hrs out of the battery, more like 4. But, this is a good little computer.
I got this as a gift for Christmas. I love it. The purple one is not so common, and it generated comments in the airport and on the airplane on my last trip.
My first task was to get rid of all the excess programs and upgrade the Windows 7 starter to professional. Second step was to get a 6 cell battery and dvd drive off ebay. The 6 cell plus the 3 cell that came with the netbook keep me going all day.
I decided to purchase this one because it met and exceeded my requirements for a NETBOOK. The specs on this baby match up better than most. Great keyboard and mouse, keys feel great, wireless n, fast boot, upgradeable from 1GB to 2GB, user friendly ASUS Bios updater interface, Microsoft works, lightweight. You must understand first the context of my statement. I wanted a NETbook. Not a Laptop. I didnt want an “ultimate” or Professional” version of ANYTHING running on this NETbook. I wanted it to be lean and mean. I wanted a small, powerful, convenient AND FAST NETbook for casual surfing and email. If you wanted more, your in the wrong market. I didnt buy this to play games, edit, video, watch TV or DVD’s, etc. Like I said I didn’t want a Laptop. Windows Starter 32 bit is an excellent match for a NETbook. Think of Windows 7 Starter as just that, the place to start. I figured, if I NEED an “anytime upgrade” Ill get it. At this point, having had used it for a week, I’m not changing a thing. Less is more with a NETbook. Ill save upgrades for my LAPtop and DESKtop. From when I push the power button to my first opening click of Firefox = less than one minute. I removed some preloaded crapware, i.e. ASUS whistles and bells and some preloaded games. Added Norton Internet Security Netbook Edition, and bingo, the perfect NETbook.
I love this little laptop. I can put in my purse and carry anywhere. The battery life is better than great. The performance is also great, I was planning to upgrade RAM, but I have been pleased with speed and performance just like it is!!
Ok i was reading through all the reviews here before i went and bought a netbook and I have to say i was scared by the reviews on here. The fat battery thing in particular. Well I got one anyway and I had to say that i am NOT disappointed in any way so far. Yes it does indeed have a very strange battery design, possibly even ugly….BUT it has an amazing battery life and other than that it’s awesome! This little guy is weightless and works like a charm. It can do everything my mac powerbook can do and it’s a lot smaller and lighter. It did have a small issue in that windows 7 starter wouldn’t let me make my own wallpaper at first and that’s BAD! But before you get mad like I did, let me inform you that you can you know *nudge* *nudge* fix it, so that you can make your own wallpaper no sweat. So once that problem was overcome I so far haven’t had any issues using it to everything i usually do on a laptop. Watch movies, download files, itunes, etc. I don’t recommend anything like dvd creation or things like that, but that’s obvious anyway….
